This mix is a bit different from my usual soul drenched happy vocal house, I've taken things a bit deep but of course with a few sprinklings of soul along the way. Tracklist: 1) Bob Henzell - World Keeps Spinning

This is my Soul For Life mix From Dec 08 which I recored while putting together Soul For Life which I launched in London the following month. Its an upfront collection of deep and soulful house with an old classic thrown in for good measure. 1) Muzology - Whole Wide World

Kicking off with a classic from Barbara Tucker and for the rest of the mix is pure upfront soul U.S style with some gospel flavours. |
About RussellRussell’s first DJ experiences started at the very young age of 10 playing classic house, soul and hip hop at youth club disco’s, getting up in front of a crowd at such a young age fuelled Russell’s confidence for what he was dreaming about pursuing as a career. Growing up as a teenager in the early nineties Russell was heavily influenced by the likes of Bobby & Steve, Tony Humphries, Masters At Work, Gilles Peterson, Joey Negro and when it came to proper U.S house & garage his biggest inspiration was Paul Trouble Anderson who’s Kiss FM show he tuned into religiously from early 95. From the age of 14 Russell was already starting to get his foot in the door in the world of dance music working on local radio stations Freedom FM & Dfm 101.4. During Russell’s early days of working in radio and DJ’ing around Brighton & Hove he was working alongside the likes of Norman Cook, Dave Clark, Fat Tony, Chad Jackson, Andy Mac, Dominic Moir, Rob Blake, Alan Russell & Marshall Jefferson. After taking sometime out for a few years to do other things, in 2005 Russell decided to take his DJ’ing seriously again and picked up where he left off and was soon securing gigs around Brighton as well as in London for heygorgeous & Bar 54 East. In July 2007 Russell relocated to Bournemouth for just over a year, during Russell’s time in Bournemouth he was playing at various venues around the town, He was made a resident DJ for one of the south coasts biggest soulful house nights “God Made Me Funky” and he also landed himself with a weekly Saturday morning Radio show on Bournemouth’s Deep Blue FM. After an eventful stint in Bournemouth Russell moved back home to Brighton and soon after returning he had secured himself a residency at the Funky Buddha Lounge playing for non other than soulful house pioneers Bobby & Steve for their successful monthly soulful house event Bobby & Steve Presents. During 2009 Russell also played for Soul Satellite in Northampton, The Soul Village Weekender in Devon, Not For Squares, Push FM, Brighter Days and of course God Made Me Funky in Brighton, Bristol, Bournemouth and London. 2009 has been a great year for Russell and by the summer he’d already played alongside the likes of Sy Sez & Gavin Peters from The Aphrodisiax, Karizma, Paul Trouble Anderson, Aaron Ross & Neil Pierce from The Fanatix, Lady Duracell, Grant Nelson, Pablo Martinez, Victor Simonelli, Bobby & Steve and DJ Spen. Russell’s really beginning to make movements in the world of soulful house and has quite a following in Brighton, London and Bournemouth as well as becoming known for his popular mixes, podcasts and radio shows in other parts of the world.
